Lisa: bookkeeping that happens in WhatsApp.
Photograph a receipt. Send a voice note about a cash job. It's coded and in your books before you've put the phone down — no app to download, no login to forget, no spreadsheet on a Sunday night.
What it actually does
Lisa is a bookkeeping assistant that lives inside WhatsApp — the app you already have open. You send it things as they happen, in whatever form is easiest, and it turns them into proper records.
It handles the three things that go missing in nearly every set of small-business records: receipts you meant to keep, cash you took and forgot about, and mileage nobody wrote down.
How it works
- You send it something
A photo of a receipt, a voice note about a job, a quick message. Whatever's quickest at the time — you don't have to be sat at a desk.
- It codes it and files it
Categorised and attached to the right place in your accounting software, with the evidence kept alongside the entry rather than in a drawer.
- You can ask it things
What have I spent this month, who still owes me, what should I put by. Plain questions, plain answers, from your actual figures rather than a guess.
- We pick it up from there
Because the records are already straight, the quarterly updates and the year end stop being an archaeology exercise. That's the bit that saves you money with us.
Why we recommend it
The hard part of bookkeeping has never been the filing. It's the collecting — getting the receipt off the dashboard and into the records before it fades, remembering the cash job three weeks later, finding the fuel receipt in April that you needed in July.
Under Making Tax Digital that gets sharper, because there are now four deadlines a year rather than one. Four chances to discover the shoebox is empty. Anything that closes the gap between something happening and it being recorded is worth having, and Lisa closes it to about ten seconds.
Who it suits
- Anyone taking cash. The single biggest hole in most sole traders' records, and a voice note fixes it.
- People who live in a van, not an office. If you're never at a desk, an app you have to remember to open is an app you won't open.
- Anyone who's ever lost a receipt. Which is everyone.
- People dreading Making Tax Digital. Records that are already current make quarterly updates a non-event.
It suits some people less well — if you already run tight books in software you're comfortable with, you may not need it. We'll tell you that rather than push it.
Common questions
Do I need to download anything?
No. It works inside WhatsApp, which you almost certainly already have. There's no separate app and no login to remember.
Does it work with my accounting software?
It's built to feed into the main packages. We work in Xero, QuickBooks and FreeAgent, so tell us what you're on and we'll confirm before you commit to anything.
Does this replace having an accountant?
No, and it isn't meant to. It keeps the records straight as you go. We still do the returns, the deadlines, the planning and the arguing with HMRC.
What does it cost?
That's Lisa's to answer rather than ours — the pricing is on getlisa.co.uk. Ask us and we'll talk you through whether it's likely to be worth it for your setup.
Want us to set you up?
Message us and we'll tell you honestly whether Lisa suits how you work — and if it does, get you going with it alongside everything else we do.
