Privacy policy
This page explains what happens to information when you visit this website or get in touch with us. The short version: we set no cookies, we run no advertising trackers, and we never sell anything about you to anyone.

Who we are
Whitfield Hanson Accountancy Ltd, trading as Whitfield Hanson Accountancy, of Meadow View, Thorpe Ln, Thorpe in Balne, Doncaster DN6 0DY. We are a company registered in England and Wales, company number 16778779. We are the data controller for the information described on this page.
You can reach us on 07868 005731, by WhatsApp on the same number, or at whitfieldandhanson@gmail.com.
What this policy covers
This policy covers this website only. If you become a client, the information we handle in the course of doing your accounts and tax work is covered separately by your engagement letter, which sets out what we hold, why, and for how long.
When you simply read the site
We do not use cookies on this website. There is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to.
Visitor numbers
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and see which pages people read. It is cookieless and does not follow you across other websites. It gives us totals, not individuals: we can see that a page was read forty times, not who read it.
A note that someone is on the site
Because there are only two of us and we like to know when the site is being used, a short message is sent to our phones when a page is opened. It contains the page address, the website you arrived from if there was one, and whether you are on a phone or a computer. It does not contain your name, your IP address, or anything that identifies you, and it is not stored anywhere afterwards. These messages are delivered through the notification service ntfy.sh.
If you would rather this did not happen, you can visit whaccountancy.com/?noalert=1 once. That records a preference on your own device and no further messages are sent from that browser.
Our lawful basis
Both of the above rely on our legitimate interests in understanding whether our website is working and reaching the people it is meant for. We have weighed that against your privacy and kept the information to the minimum that serves the purpose: no cookies, no profiles, nothing identifying.
When you get in touch
If you message us on WhatsApp, ring us, or email us, we keep that conversation so we can answer you and pick the thread back up if you come back to us later. The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries, and, once you become a client, performance of our contract with you.
WhatsApp messages travel through WhatsApp, which is operated by Meta. Their handling of your message is governed by their own privacy policy, not ours.
Enquiries that do not turn into work are deleted within two years. Client records are kept for seven years after our work for you ends, which is what tax and company law requires of us.
Who else is involved
| Who | What they do for us |
|---|---|
| Netlify | Hosts this website and serves the pages to you |
| Cloudflare | Counts visits, without cookies |
| ntfy.sh | Delivers the “someone is on the site” message to our phones |
| WhatsApp (Meta) | Carries messages between you and us, if you choose to use it |
We do not sell information about visitors, and we do not share it for advertising.
Links to other websites
This site links out to GOV.UK, to Google reviews, and to getlisa.co.uk. Once you follow a link you are on someone else’s website and their privacy policy applies, not ours.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, object to how we are using it, or ask us to restrict what we do with it. Ask us at whitfieldandhanson@gmail.com and we will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would rather you came to us first so we can put it right.
Changes to this policy
If we change how any of this works we will update this page and change the date at the top.
Any questions about this?
Ask us. You will get a straight answer from Dylan or Henry, not a form response.
